In defense of Jafo and this site I must say that I am the one who sent Jafo the website link he sent to you. The reason I sent it was because the screensaver you called "Forest Glow" was at it and not done by you, Portraits. And since you claim you have never been to that site I feel I did the right thing. If it had been your screensaver to begin with you would have known that site. It, after all is a download for members only. Here is the link WWW Link

I no longer have the link to your Early Spring screensaver that was also at another site with a different title and someone else's name. I got suspicious when I asked what program you used to make your screensavers and you never answered.

If I was wrong in thinking it was a rip I would appreciate the proof and I will appologize. It certainly wasn't anything personal.

Last I checked, just because you don't know who the author is doesn't mean it's ok to take it and claim as your own. I certainly know DigitalBlasphemy frowns on that.

Jafo obviously gave you the benefit of the doubt since the works in question were still up 2 weeks later until you had them removed. All you had to do was prove you were the author and they would still be there. You could have waited for Jafo to read your email. Granted it takes longer sometimes then we think it should or would like, but he would have read it and you two could have gotten it straightened out.

Unlike the general community, the Administration of Wincustomize.com presumes innocence until determined otherwise.

Once attention was brought to an apparent anomaly regarding authorship subsequent submissions were rejected pending clarification, however the existing gallery was not removed.

....definitely has some of the same screensavers but there is no evidence they were/are yours.

Several times people have been asked to explain such anomalies with uploads....sometimes it's a simple matter of 2 sites...2 different nicks...same person, sometimes it's an overlooked 'permission.txt' issue, and sometimes it's someone uploading another's work as his own.

If a response was sent then unfortunately it was not received, so I am at a loss  as to its content.

Our most recent communication mentioned not receiving a response so I would have hoped subsequent reply would have addressed that, rather than prompting your current action.

This is not mean, nor discriminatory on my part, but a simple cause and effect.

The cause was a query requesting clarification of a screensaver submission, and the effect was your removal of your entire gallery.

I cannot apologize for the former as all uploaders may be subject to that, and the latter was your choice, and definitely not mine.

 

If a simple lost email can precipitate such reaction then perhaps it would have been more prudent to attempt resolution via successful email communication.  It would be unlikely to be flagged as spam and deleted unless it had trigger words in the title [viagra, penjs, etc], and I do read them all, particularly those originating from Wincustomize.com Users.

If you don't know who owns the copyright, then you can't possibly have permission to redistribute. I would think you've been here long enough to know that.

Wincustomize takes better care of there customers than any other site I know of. Personally, I don't use Screensavers, so I don't know about the problem at hand, but I've been with Wincustomize for around 3 or 4 years. IMHO. They are the best.
